Product processing

For the cultivation of onion-sets we purchase the seeds from several leading "Seed Companies" in The Netherlands, but we also import the seeds directly from other european reliable breeders ourselves.
The production fields are inspected and checked to see if the prescriptions for the soil and the seed used are fulfilled.
Normally the sowing season is at the end of march, or beginning of April. After sowing, the inspection of the production fields is very important, that is why A.C. Mosselman B.V. always do that themselves together with the NAKT-officials.
Onions may be grown from "onion-sets", or seeds. Actually, they all begin as seeds. Onion-sets are grown from seed which is sown thickly the year before and are allowed to grow to the size of a large marble.
They are then harvested and stored in our warehouses untill autumn or the following spring, when you buy them as "onion-sets".
Harvesting season normally starts at the end of July, beginning of August. When the weathercircumstances are good harvesting onion-sets will be no problem.
After harvesting the onion-sets are stored in the specially equiped warehouses of A.C. Mosselman BV to keep the onions-sets in very good condition, so that the onion-sets they deliver are always of the best quality!
